Communications Committee

Purpose

The Communications Committee shall be responsible for public communications of the Association including training high school counselors in the area of financial aid. The Committee shall disseminate appropriate material publicizing the availability of financial aid and explaining the financial aid process.

Duties

The Communications Committee shall:

1. Coordinate with the Michigan Department of Treasury’s Student Financial Services Bureau the High School Counselor Video Conference, including scheduling, selection of sites, selection of presenters, and developing a training session and materials.

2. Conduct a variety of financial aid awareness campaigns and efforts, both on behalf of the Association and in partnership with other organizations.

3. Request assistance from MSFAA regional directors with site selection.

4. Support the efforts of the Partnership for Learning as statewide coordinator of College Goal Sunday. Request every Michigan postsecondary institution’s support for promoting College Goal Sunday. Request that all postsecondary institutions link to www.micollegegoal.org.

5. Work closely with the MSFAA Early Awareness Multicultural Outreach Committee.

Meeting Times

Tuesday of each month at Davenport College Library Conference Room in Lansing.

Membership

The President will appoint a Chair (or Co-Chairs) for the Committee from the MSFAA membership. The Chair(s) will be responsible for selecting additional members, if needed, from MSFAA member institutions.
